I take photos of anything that captivates my eye, from epic landscapes to street photography and everything in between. I don’t want to be limited to genre, camera type or format but prefer to capture images that, for me, are the essence of photography - images that highlight life.
I started taking photos in my native Netherlands with black and white being my focus. On moving to Australia life got busy. Work, family, responsibilities were quickly prioritised with little time to devote to the passion I have for photography. Now that I am retired and my children are grown, with children of their own, I’m able to explore the world once more and capture its simple, and not so simple, beauty.
“For a moment, I see, taking in surrounds, time slows down, I stop, I wonder, I dream. Looking around me taking it all in, deflection of different colours, smelling the air. I close my eyes, my imagination floats. A gentle breeze, leaves rustle, water droplets fall around me. The smell of moist moss and the gentle flow of the waterfall. A moment of silence. Opening my eyes, taking a deep breath, listening to my heartbeat, the feeling of tranquility, happiness…
A feeling I often get while taking photographs, the above are feelings I had while photographing the “Moss Gardens” in Carnarvon Gorge National Park.”
The Moss Gardens are one on many locations across Australia that hold special significance for Judy, my wife, and I. We continue to adventure across Australia seeking out other locations that leave us breathless and constantly amazed at the beauty of the land we call home. Capturing images of these special places allows us to share the journey with others and encourage adventure.
We aim to keep travelling, keep adventuring, both in Australia and abroad, and keep capturing images of the people and places that impact us on our journeys.
